"Is
osteopathic treatment painful?"
In general, no and with skillful handlling there should be no major
after effects. The Osteopaths at the clinic are taught how to manage
patients who are in acute pain and you will be handled with the
uttermost care and attention.

"Are
there any side effects with treatment?"
Side
effects are generally very rare; you might experience some tiredness
/ soreness for a few days afterwards but this will subside quickly.
Osteopathy as a whole is a very safe & effective form of treatment
and on the whole patients feel freer and more comfortable almost
immediately after treatment.

"How
long will it take me to get better?"
Your
rate of recovery will depend on several factors including your age,
general health, sensitivity to treatment, activities in your life,
as well as the type of problem you have. The consultation may highlight
possible maintaining and causative factors for your particular condition
and these will be explained to you on your visit so that recovery
your time can be reduced.

"Is
it necessary to see the GP first?"
Many
patients are referred by their doctor, but it is not necessary to
visit him/her first. If there is any reason for the Osteopath to
contact your doctor he/she will request your permission first.

"What
would my doctor say?"
The
clinic has very good relationships with local GP's and most would
be happy for you to see an Osteopath. However if you do have an
underlying medical condition there are some osteopathic techniques
that can harm you, this is why an Osteopath will always take a full
medical case history on you first visit - and again if more than
six months have elapsed between treatments.

Is
osteopathic treatment suitable for any age?"
Age
is not a barrier to receiving osteopathic treatment & treatment
is specifically adapted to your individual needs. The clinic Osteopaths
see and treat patients from all ages - children to the elderly,
working individuals to sporting people as well as pregnant mothers.

"Do
you issue off-work certificates (sick notes)?"
"Yes
we do". Where appropriate, we issue Off Work Certificates as
provided by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). These are accepted
by employers and the DSS for benefit purposes. |

you accept patients through insurance schemes?"
"Yes we do". Were are registered with BUPA, PPP, and other
major health insurance companies as well as seeing clients who are
members of HSA and other similae schemes.
Patients
are advised to contact the respective provider and obtaining approval
prior attending the clinic
